Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Pippa Ganderton, the Product Director of ATPI Halo, to discuss the future of this innovative product. In this interview, Pippa shares her insights on how ATPI Halo is changing the approach to business travel and what the future holds for sustainable travel.

The Future of ATPI Halo

ATPI Halo is poised for success in the future as corporations increasingly prioritise carbon neutrality and adopt more sustainable practices in their travel and events management. By working with clients to use last year’s data to build indicative forecasts for 2023 travel emissions and the cost of offsetting these against various projects, ATPI Halo is providing valuable insights and solutions to help clients reduce their carbon footprint.

The introduction of directives by the EU requiring corporations to declare their emissions is creating greater demand for carbon offsetting, and fully certified and verified projects that can withstand the scrutiny of independent monitoring bodies will be in high demand. This is where ATPI Halo’s expertise and services. By providing clients with insightful CO2e reporting and access to high-quality offsetting projects, ATPI Halo can help clients achieve their sustainability goals and demonstrate their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint.

One of the key drivers of demand for carbon offsetting is the push for science-based reduction targets. As more industry sectors are called upon to declare their emissions and charged with science-based reduction targets, reporting emissions becomes increasingly important to clients. Many clients have focused to date on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which they can more directly influence or are their largest impact areas. However, focus will inevitably shift to include Scope 3 emissions, such as travel and events emissions, which fall into the category of indirect emissions through the supply chain.

ATPI Halo’s focus on helping clients reduce their GHG footprint and providing tangible evidence of their commitment to CO2e reductions is highly valuable. Clients can rest assured that their carbon registry entry links and certificates of offset are proof of their commitment to carbon reductions, which is essential to satisfy auditors, investors, shareholders, and even employees.

The travel industry is still developing and implementing technology to enable carbon-neutral air travel and reduce emissions from other areas of travel and event management. As the industry shifts towards more sustainable practices, ATPI Halo is well-positioned to help clients adopt these practices and achieve their sustainability goals. By embracing new technologies and green suppliers, clients can reduce their carbon footprint while still maintaining the quality of their travel and events management.

Over the next 5-10 years, clients should see a reduction in their CO2 footprint, and they will consequently reduce the volume of their per travelling employee carbon offsets in line with this shift. However, the pace of this reduction will depend on how individual clients can adapt to make choices that reduce their travel GHG footprint and how quickly the travel industry can adopt technologies that reduce emissions.

Carbon neutrality and net-zero travel can only be achieved through transparent footprint monitoring, setting and achieving reduction targets, engaging in efforts such as carbon offsetting, and embracing new technologies and green suppliers. ATPI Halo is well-positioned to help clients achieve these goals and be ahead of the game in terms of adopting better policies and practices.

Overall, ATPI Halo’s focus on sustainability and carbon neutrality has positioned it as a leader in the industry and a valuable partner for clients looking to reduce their carbon footprint and achieve their sustainability goals. As emissions reporting becomes increasingly important and the demand for carbon offsetting grows, ATPI Halo’s expertise in sustainability will be more valuable than ever. By helping clients achieve their sustainability goals and demonstrating their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint, ATPI Halo is setting itself up for a successful future in a rapidly changing industry.
