Name: Lynn Coutts
Job Title: Managing Director

What does your day-to-day role consist of?

Every day is different, from working with our operations team to ensure they are empowered and delivering and exceeding clients' expectations.

Offering support and guidance to the Account Management, Finance, and Sales Team, visiting clients, and prospective new clients, meeting with suppliers, and engaging in thought processes to encourage innovation are just some of the ways we deliver what really matters.

It’s critical that we have our finger on the pulse managing suppliers, as well as the current and future complexities that the world of global travel present in order to guide, advise and recommend best options and practise to our clients.

Every single member of our team are important, we share ideas, value opinions and work together as one. Ultimately they are the heart of our organisation, and without them, we simply could not deliver what is truly important to each and every one of our clients.

Favourite thing about working in travel

One of my favourite things is the people with whom I work with, from clients, prospective clients, suppliers and of course my team. The most rewarding thing is to see how much each and everyone of my team care about our clients and our business, as well as how motivated they are.

We constantly receive commendations from clients and reward and recognise by ringing the office bell! This means a lot to us all. Nothing makes me happier than seeing  people I work with grow and develop within our team.

Personally, I thrive on being busy and providing solutions to our customers and team especially when we can be creative and help improved and deliver workflow, and cost savings that make a difference.

What are your predictions for the travel industry in the next 5 years?

I believe that with current demand outweighing supply, fragmented infrastructure, and the ongoing challenge of getting from A to B to Z, as well as geopolitical tensions around the world, the cost of travel and the complexity of doing so will continue to rise. Technology will play a massive role in company processes, with the need to have the correct tools providing the correct content connected across the travel programme as well as how we communicate to book and manage travel through different methods becoming a necessity.

The need to provide comprehensive support and visibility for sustainability as the world moves to meet targets, support employee wellbeing as companies work hard to retain their people, and, of course, the ability to ensure safety and security for visibility and risk mitigation for employees and companies alike.

This is why, now more than ever, it is critical to work with a specialist travel management company that will take ownership and accountability for your travel programme, as well as keep you ahead of the curve by providing a flexible and scalable travel solution that fits you, your traveller, and your organisation in the most efficient and effective way.

What does your day-to-day role consist of?

Finding complex routes, adhering to respective clients' travel policies, or even answering the silliest of questions, I enjoy assisting each member of my team in the best way possible. It's not just about issuing tickets; it's about understanding a client's needs and providing the best service possible to exceed their expectations. We are ONE TEAM, and we work together to ensure that we perform at our best.

Favourite thing about working in travel

We are dealing with people, which is difficult, but as ATPI travel agents, we love what we do, we know what we do, and we deliver what is truly important. We eventually receive a lot of praise, which I adore! As a Travel Management graduate and Team Leader, I enjoy my job, my office, and my co-workers, but appreciation from any client is the cherry on top.

What are your predictions for the travel industry in the next 5 years?

Travel in the future will be bright and clean! The travel industry will prioritise social distancing and hygiene precautions while integrating the best technologies and automation. Globally, sports travel will continue to grow, and ATPI will play an important role. ATPI will continue to lead the marine and energy sectors, where we anticipate exceptional growth due to global demand.

Favourite thing about working in travel

I've been in the travel industry for nearly 20 years and can't imagine doing anything else. I enjoy seeing how travel and our company have evolved over time, and no week is the same. It's fast-paced, but we have a fantastic team with the same goal of evolving with our customers.

What are your predictions for the travel industry in the next 5 years?

I believe we are now seeing the return of travel; we have hit the ground running since Covid and this will continue. The Middle East will be a key region for marine and energy for the next five years, making it an exciting place to be. Favourite thing about working in travel

I've been in the industry for many years and have seen a lot, but what I like best is that it never ends. We live in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and I enjoy the adrenaline rush. In my role, I wear many hats, which means we have many roles to play; one minute I could be an analyst, the next a crisis management, the next a counsellor, and so on; as many have said, one day is never the same as the next.
