ATPI has secured access to a landmark carbon offset project in Brazil’s Acre state, offering its clients a new opportunity to support climate action through high-quality, nature-based solutions.
Developed by Respira International, the project is a REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) initiative rated BBB by BeZero Carbon, one of the highest independent ratings for projects of its kind. It combines forest protection with tangible community benefits and strong local governance, making it a strong addition to ATPI’s global offsetting portfolio.
“This is the kind of project our clients have been asking for, especially those with operations or interest in Latin America,” said Pippa Ganderton, Director of ATPI Halo. “It delivers verified climate impact at a competitive price, while supporting biodiversity and livelihoods in the Amazon.”
The project has already attracted significant investment from major industry players, including Petrobras, which purchased the full credit issuance for 2020 and 2021, and committed up to $120 million to Brazil’s carbon market as part of its wider decarbonisation strategy.
With a credit price of approximately US$12 per tonne, the project offers an attractive opportunity for organisations looking to support credible, nature-based climate solutions, particularly those seeking regionally relevant projects in South America.
This addition further strengthens ATPI Halo, the group’s sustainability division, which enables clients across sectors to measure, reduce, and compensate their emissions through credible, science-backed solutions.
