About EuroHockey

EuroHockey is the governing body for hockey in Europe, representing 42 national associations and standing as one of five Continental Federations affiliated with the International Hockey Federation (FIH). With tournaments spanning multiple countries and hundreds of athletes, EuroHockey needed a trusted travel partner to manage high-pressure logistics while ensuring teams remained focused on performance.

The challenge: Flexibility in unpredictable conditions

EuroHockey’s tournaments are vast in scope but come with one unique complexity: no mandatory use of ATPI’s services. This meant the ATPI Sports Travel team had to remain flexible and agile, ready to handle anything from high-volume team movements to last-minute individual bookings.

“We had to create a setup that works whether there’s one athlete traveling or an entire delegation of 200,” says Bobby Polanen-Petel, Global Sales Manager at ATPI Sports Travel. “Our job is to make travel simple so athletes can focus on their competition.”

The solution: A joint venture approach

ATPI developed a collaborative model combining the expertise of its operational event team and group travel specialists.

Hotel Strategy:
By securing tournament information earlier than ever, ATPI blocked and reserved all necessary hotel rooms upfront, negotiating strong rates and ensuring EuroHockey had exclusive access to the best accommodations.

“Our goal was to create a monopoly on accommodation,” Bobby explains. “By reserving early, we guaranteed every team, official, and partner the right rooms at the best possible price.”

Seamless Team Travel:
For group movements, ATPI handled bookings, transfers, and coordination across countries, ensuring schedules aligned perfectly with competition timetables.

Managing disruptions: protecting performance readiness

When last-minute changes hit, whether due to weather, flight delays, or rescheduled matches, ATPI stayed one step ahead. “Our priority was making sure no disruption affected athletes’ readiness to compete,” says Bobby. “We worked in real-time with teams and local partners to adapt plans instantly.” This agility allowed EuroHockey to maintain smooth operations, even under pressure.

The results: A growing partnership

The collaboration delivered measurable results:

  • A successful first major tournament with zero travel-related disruptions.
  • A new online platform for Euro Hockey’s corporate travel.
  • Expanded scope to include additional tournaments for 2025.
  • Early planning is already underway for 2026, covering more rooms, more events, and larger delegations.

Jokko de Wit, Commercial Director of EuroHockey; “ATPI was our call in the playing field, no matter how big the tournament or all changes, they made sure our athletes, officials, and umpires stayed focused and ready to compete.”
