Operated from Durban, South Africa, ATPI have announced the Africa Gateway, developed to address the challenges that arise for clients operating in different locations across the region. The Gateway includes access to specialist consultants and on-the-ground teams qualified to deliver an integrated and consistent service. A dedicated team monitors security threats to ensure traveller safety and security, providing multi-lingual speakers to ensure that travel programmes adhere to particular cultural and governmental requirements.

Through ATPI’s provision of traveller tracking technology, pre-trip reporting and travel risk maps Africa Gateway also provides organisations with the visibility to fulfil their duty of care obligations to travellers. Such insight can mitigate risks and offer advice around challenges such as facilitating travel to and from the Congo Republic where currently all airlines in the market are on the EU banned list.

Africa Gateway enables invoicing in local or multiple currencies, an essential component in compliance to Africa’s various localisation policies. Complete financial reporting also ensures clients comply with developing procurement and withholding tax legislation while retaining the flexibility that is so important to the energy sector. This flexibility has supported the effective management of travel budgets particularly when there is a requirement to repatriate funds for example during periods of currency volatility in Angola and Mozambique.

Aligning resources to match growing client needs in the energy sector while supporting the complexity of travel logistics across Africa, ATPI has expanded its partner network to provide clients with access to a wider team of local experts dedicated to supporting their travel and operations. These partners include Shamal Travels and Tours in Mauritius and Cotur Travel & Tours in Mozambique. They will work with the ATPI team to enhance the Africa Gateway to provide clients with efficient and effective service while fulfilling their travel programme requirements and achieving their wider business objectives. ATPI’s footprint in Africa is expected to expand further over the next six months.

Judy ‘JP’ Peplinski, global head of energy, ATPI commented:

With the economic landscape constantly changing and travel becoming more complex, it has never been more vital for businesses travelling in Africa to work with a travel management company that specialises in safe, efficient and compliant travel.”

Through our proprietary technology and a century of sector experience, ATPI has created the Africa Gateway solution to keep organisations compliant with local and legal requirements while providing full visibility and immediate access to data. This allow us to focus on consultative service, expertise and support while navigating the logistical, safety and financial nuances of travelling and operating in Africa. We look forward to working with our new partners and continuing to expand our service offering to support our clients across the continent.

ATPI’s Africa Gateway now provides travel management and logistics in a number of locations including, Angola, Botswana, Congo Republic, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

With a 100-year heritage, ATPI thrives on strengthening ties with international businesses to set new standards in managing the complexities of travel, by delivering what really matters to clients. The team is strategically located in the core regions of focus for the energy industry to allow for both sector and important regional expertise.
