Looking to the future of ATPI Halo

Whether you are busy planning the year ahead, looking purely at 2023, or head down completing year-end reports and wanting to still do something to mitigate your 2022 travel-related carbon footprint, through ATPI Halo’s Measure-Reduce-Offset methodology we can help!

ATPI Halo was developed to act as a hub for ideas, technologies, projects and more to build a sustainable travel model for the future – all with the aim of supporting organisations in changing their approach to business travel for the better. It supports clients in achieving their wider carbon neutral and net zero targets by enabling them to Measure, Reduce and Offset their travel-related CO2 emissions. In this article, we dive into what the future of ATPI Halo looks like:

This is where we were

ATPI Halo launched in September 2021.

We attended the Business Travel show and all travel to the event was offset, this was the start of big things to come!

Our portfolio started to grow, and we pre-invested in various carbon offset projects from nature-based to renewable energies, each of which fulfil various of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Clients have embraced this new service and we are delighted to have been chosen as sponsor of the FIM Environmental Trophy for two years running now at the International Federation of Motorsports Annual Awards.

We have sourced eleven verified and certified, high-quality carbon offset projects, and are constantly engaging with project providers for a variety of other initiatives. Learning about these, largely nature-based projects and how they are benefitting from our work has been amazing and inspirational, but we need to do more!

Where we have come

We have recorded steady growth in sustainable travel consultancy and travel-related CO2 offsetting across:

  1. Corporate
  2. Energy
  3. Sports
  4. Events
  5. Engineering
  6. Shipping

Our ATPI Halo projects are selected for their quality, integrity and effectiveness in addressing the global challenges of environmental impact management. Correlation with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ensures a balance of the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental.

Our Carbon Analytics provides clear and highly visual CO2e measurement reporting. And we have a year’s worth of improved CO2e measurement as a result of our partnership with Thrust Carbon. That means full visibility of your non-Air CO2e data too. Our Carbon Analytics will continue to evolve across 2023.

What we aim to do

We’ve been working with clients to use last year’s data to build indicative forecasts for 2023 travel emissions and the cost of offsetting these against various ATPI Halo projects. Others are still offsetting Q4 or even a larger chunk of their 2022 travel-related emissions. And we are finding that their auditors are showing an interest, and are pleased to see the carbon registry entry links and certificates of offset in the client’s name, which are proof of commitment to carbon reductions.

With the EU introducing directives that require corporations to declare their emissions, being ahead of the game can only be an advantage. To be able to show quality reporting and a tangible commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, as well as having strategies in place for reaching net zero goals by 2050, will mean corporates are not rushing to catch up, but already adopting better policies and practices!
