ATPI Halo have access to carbon credits from the world’s largest mangrove restoration project

Working closely to Carbon Growth Partners, Respira, ATPI Halo are excited to announce that they now have access to an exemplary Blue Carbon Project.Details of offtake agreements for the Delta Blue Carbon Project (DBC-1) were announced yesterday by the project’s owners Indus Delta Capital, the Government of Sindh and Pollination.

The announcement is a major milestone for DBC-1 which is being implemented in the Sindh province of Pakistan over 350,000 hectares of tidal wetlands – an area bigger than Luxembourg.

DBC-1 has been operational for six years and has already restored more than 73,000 hectares of degraded mangrove forests and tidal wetlands. The project is expecting delivery of its first three million carbon credits later this year and it will sequester an estimated 142 million tonnes of CO2e over its 60-year lifetime.

With a large base of Marine and Energy clients, ATPI have worked closely with Respira over the past few months to secure access to this fantastic marine based CO2 offsetting project. Our clients in the shipping and energy sectors especially are savvy to the potential impact of their activities on marine life, with many having an interest In actively supporting environmental projects that align with their company sustainability goals.

The fact that Delta Blue also offers a range of community livelihood improvements, as well as protection of a variety of endangered species makes it even more special, and aligns with a host of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.’
