One of America's leading travel management companies, Ultramar's headquarters are in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Peter Klebanow, has been the President and CEO of Ultramar since 1994. He is also the Chairman of GlobalStar Travel Management, the worldwide joint venture partnership of leading travel management companies of which ATP is a prominent member. "Like all of its GlobalStar partners, Ultramar is focused on delivering global travel programme solutions that ensure consistency across continents while leveraging purchasing power, special deals and knowledge," says Peter.
A major player in the travel industry in America, Peter is a member of the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO), ACTE, ASTA and ICTA. He has also held seats on numerous advisory boards and is a regular speaker at conferences such as the Association of Legal Administrators.
Investment in the on-going development of innovative technology to support all aspects of the travel experience is instrumental to the continuing success of the business. Sharing the same philosophy, Ultramar and ATP work closely together using their independent skills to manage international clients. Ultramar, like ATP with Ticket
WindowTM, offers each client a unique, highly responsive suite of travel technology. This technology services both the traveller and the travel manager and is designed to help them make more informed travel decisions.
In addition to their proprietary software, both companies work together on global solutions such as DataStar, the multi-national management reporting tool used by over 50 countries in the GlobalStar travel management partnership.
Hands on management team
Peter leads a hands-on management team all of whom have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the industry. Online Programs Consultant, Barbara Bertini, for example, has spent over 25 years in the industry including Passenger Sales and Client Relations for American Arilines. Barbara works closely with Account Management and Operations to assist clients with online booking tools and the development of online adoption to meet each client's specific goals.
Vice President of Information Technology, Thomas Chermack, has been a driving force behind Ultramar's ability to surround every client with smart technology that is intelligently employed to support all aspects of the travel experience. Heading a department of eight IT staff Thomas personally seeks to get unique technological feedback from colleagues?? in order to see what works best for them, and ultimately, their client.
A completely different career as a studio musician and an interest in music composition software led him into the technology field. This interest, together with over eight years as a travel consultant, gave him the idea of improving the traveller's overall experience through better technology. Since joining Ultramar ten years ago he has developed a whole raft of agents' tools, applications, web-based technology and other industry firsts. Uniquely, his work reflects the fact that Ultramar's product offerings are built by travel people who have a real understanding of technology.
